The Attic: A Cocktail Bar with A Theme
by: Sophia

Looking for a nice and cosy place to relax and just chill out? Head over to The Attic at Jalan Bangkung. Located within the infamous Bangsar area, The Attic is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the Telawi Street Area but near enough to make it convenient. Its location makes it a better option with ample parking space and a quieter and cosier atmosphere.

The Attic is a fairly new establishment which aims to provide its customers with what Kuala Lumpur severely lacks, a good cocktail bar with one of a kind entertainment. Its weekly calendar is filled with interesting themed nights such as art openings, live music, wonder women as well as spanking Saturdays which features local personalities turn bartenders for a night.

With a night set aside each month for art openings, The Attic fills its walls with artworks from various local artists. It gives the artists the exposure that they deserve and the guests a look at the artwork that is for sale. Even if you don’t appreciate art, it is candy for the eye.

Wonder women sees a night of meeting, mingling and in some cases, matching. This isn’t a normal match making session (which by the way, The Attic also holds occasionally). This interesting night fills the bar with ladies from all walks of life who are interested in networking. An intriguing way to begin the night and an even more creative idea to lure in the men.

The live music nights at The Attic are by far the most popular nights. Guest artists are invited to perform their repertoire, be it jazz, ballads, classics or anything that suits the mood. Generally, the music that is performed are of the soothing kind so don’t expect to hear rock and roll or punk music blaring loudly from the speakers. When there is no live music available, a variety of chill out music can be heard in the background.

Another characteristic that sets The Attic apart from the many pubs and clubs that pop up like blistering pimples is the fact that it is a non-smoking establishment. This is to preserve the cool and refreshing ambience and also to protect the quality of the artwork. A cosy little balcony is available for smokers who can’t kick the habit though.

The Attic is a perfect place to just sit and hang. The ambience is one that is cool, calm and classy while the drinks are creative, original and delicious too. The people at The Attic are extremely charming and the guests are always encouraged to mingle. It’s nice to finally find a place that has it all. The delicious cocktails, the cool and comfortable atmosphere, the charming people, the fun activities as well as music that isn’t deafening so that conversations can run smoothly. It is a place that displays simple elegance, incisive intelligence and delicate wit, hence the name The Attic.
