Survival Tip #3: Less is Best
by: Sophia

Being tasked with the most challenging part of a trip? Packing! How erractic is the weather? What attire to adorn for a night out and what shoes to bring along? Such are the questions posed by men and women alike. Be it near or far, distance is seldom a factor as people in their own vanity, desires to look good and at the same time, feel good. Here are some tips to pack wisely and minimize the size of your suitcase.

Malaysia is blessed with tropical weather throughout the year, hot and humid during the day (29-30 degrees Celsius) and relatively cool at night (25-26 degrees Celsius). You can chuck aside your winter collection which will be redundant. Pack light with an array of spring collections of shorts, sleeveless tops, and a cardigan just for air-conditioned places. However, note that Malaysia experiences two monsoons a year from late May to September and November to March. If your trip falls within this period then take extra care to pack appropriately with some warmer clothing.

For a night out in town, adorn yourself with some simple yet stylish apparel. No elaborate evening gowns or prom dresses are required for ladies. A pair of jeans or pants and an elegant top would suffice. Most nightclubs in Malaysia allow casual wear but there are some which would insist on presentable shoes and collared t-shirts for men. Make sure you pack a pair of slippers and sandals for use during the day and a pair working shoes for a nice dinner out at posh restaurants or clubbing. Most Malaysians dress casually so in order to avoid sticking out like a sore thumb, forsake your Oscars wear and you will blend well into the crowd.
