Finding the Perfect Home/neighborhood
by: Karen Hoeve Digg!

Finding the perfect area in which to live can be a time-consuming yet rewarding experience. There are numerous things to consider when perusing a town for the right home. Any town has a variety of areas that each have their own distinctive feel and atmosphere, and you should take the time to find the one that feels right to you and your family. This will involve more than just a simple drive through the town, it will involve taking some serious time and doing your homework on the areas that interest you.

Make yourself a list of things that are important to you in a community and don't be afraid to be picky. After all this is where you are going to live. If you are the kind of person that does not shy away from talking to strangers then take a stroll through the neighborhoods and ask residents what they like and dislike about the area. Tell then that you are considering moving into that home for sale over there and would like to know about the area. ask if there are any drawbacks to the locale and what it's assets are. Most people will be happy to speak about their area if they are proud of it. On the other hand if they seem hesitant you may want to go to another area of town and ask about the first area there. Then you may get the real story.

Another good idea is to go and find out what the community development plans for the area are. These will tell you of proposed construction in the area, possible community programs that are in the works and generally what the future of the area looks like. Wouldn't you like to know if the community is planning a major shopping complex in your new neighborhood? What about plans for improvement of the local school facilities or lack thereof? Its always good to know what the long term plans are for an area if you are planning to make a life there. Not only will you have to live with the current community plans but if you have kids then they will be developing within the local community and school systems. It just makes good sense to find out what kind of community any area will be in 10 years, 15 years and so on.
