Located right in the middle of the Suntec City/Marina Square/City Link/Raffles City shopping district, the Atrium Lounge and Senses Patisserie is a perfect place for shoppers to rest those tired feet. An inviting ambience and selection of finger food, drinks and cakes make it a great place to just lounge around and chitchat. Indulge your senses at this charming eatery, and be rejuvenated for another shopping spree.
The Vibe The Atrium presents two very different atmospheres in the daytime and night. Walk into a spacious and airy lounge area, with the Atrium at Marina Mandarin being one of the largest in the region. Warm, gentle sunlight floods the surroundings, while exotic Asian birds charm with their melodious chirping, transporting guests into a garden full of birds and flowers. At night, it's a whole different feel. The entire atrium transforms into a modern lounge, with ambient coloured lights and huge conical lamps providing subtle lighting. The mood is soft, with large and comfortable Italian furniture on which to relax and chill. In the evenings, the birds' harmonious sounds are replaced with singer Michelle Monterio's melodic voice, as well a pianist and a string quartet, entertaining guests with quality live music.
The Food Light cuisine is served all day long. Apart from the standard lounge fare like Crispy Calamari and Vietnamese Spring Roll, the lounge also serves more substantial fare like Salads and Quiches to cater for those plagued by hunger pangs after a long day of shopping.
The food here is tasty, with everything made fresh from the kitchen. The fried finger-food fare is piping hot, and crispy. Served with sauces made in-house, they make a great snack to share with friends. The menu here is updated every 4 to 6 months, to add variety and to cater to customers' tastes.
For those with a sweet tooth, do remember to try the cakes from Senses. The Mango Cheese Cake ($8) is pleasantly light, with a “melt-in-the-mouth” feel. The mango pieces are big and fresh, lending their fragrance to the cake. This unusual combination of mango with the ubiquitous cheesecake is difficult to find elsewhere, and fans of the tropical fruit will do well to try it here at Senses. Definitely crowd-pleaser material.
Chocolate lovers would delight at the Chocolate Truffle Cake ($8). Like the Mango Cheese Cake, the Chocolate Truffle Cake boosts a light, fluffy texture so difficult to accomplish. The subtle taste of dark chocolate ensures that the cake is not overwhelmingly sweet, providing a contrast of bitter and sweet flavours, a wonder for the palate.
Adventurous diners can try the Dome Chocolat ($8) – chocolate with an orange twist. The citrus taste adds a pleasant fragrance and zest to plain old chocolate. Great for those who like both fruity and chocolate desserts, the Dome Chocolat is the best of both worlds in a sliver of chocolate. Wake up those tired taste buds with this offering from Senses.
High tea is also available at Senses from 3pm – 5.30pm daily. Guests can look forward to a delectable selection of sandwiches, savoury dishes like Chef's Style Cheese Tartlets and Pan-Fried Shanghai Dumpling with Ching Kiang Vinegar, and a selection of pastries.
The Service The hotel prides itself on perfect Asian hospitality, and does this to an art. Hence, service is of utmost importance here, ensuring that customers get a good experience at the hotel. In line with the Asian-meets-modern concept and philosophy of the hotel, the female staff at this ultra-chic lounge is dressed immaculately in cheongsams. Polite and helpful, they definitely meet up to expectations.
The SD Food Advisor's take on Atrium Lounge & Senses PatisserieThe ambience here is enough of a reason to park those tired shopping feet here at the Atrium Lounge. The finger food and drinks are priced slightly on the steep side, but the cakes are a rather good buys if you love pretty and tasty desserts.
